Spring is good news for sellers

Now is the time to get your property on the market if you’re serious about selling!  The spring period is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for searching for property. As people shake off the cobwebs of winter, the weather gets warmer, and hopefully lockdown restrictions gradually begin to ease, potential buyers will be out in force looking for a new home.

Despite the continuing restrictions the property market has seen a record-breaking start to 2021 as people re-asses their housing requirements, with Zoopla research finding buyer demand is up 12.4% compared with the first six weeks of 2020, and Rightmove recording its busiest ever day on Wednesday 17th February.

“We almost always see a rush of buyers entering the market in springtime,” said Andrew Barry, Peter Alan Managing Director. “It seems that many feel inspired by the warmer weather and longer days to start making plans for the future, including looking for a new home, and this seems to be heightened this year.  Add to this the extension to the Welsh Land Transaction Tax (Stamp Duty) holiday until 30th June and the announcement by the Chancellor of a new 95% LTV mortgage guarantee scheme launching in April, I think we are set to see a busy few months in the property market.

We’re advising home owners to get their property on the market now and take advantage of the high demand for homes – sellers are in a strong position to achieve a good price and a quick sale.”
