Property market sees record breaking start to the New Year

We are living in ever-changing times but despite various lockdowns and restrictions the housing market remains strong, with Rightmove recording its busiest ever start to a new year, great news for anyone looking to sell their home.

The property portal has reported visits to the website are up 30% on the same time period in 2020, with over six million daily visits to the site, and the number of people contacting estate agents about a property to buy is 11% higher than at the start of last year.

January is often a busy time for the housing market with people re-evaluating where they live, and this combined with people re-assessing their housing needs to include features such as home offices, the impending end to the stamp duty holiday, and the housing market staying open throughout the current lockdown, has all contributed to the current high demand.

Andrew Barry, Peter Alan Managing Director, commented, “The local property market is very active at the moment with buyer demand higher than the supply of available properties, meaning homes are selling quickly and achieving excellent prices. We would urge those interested in moving to make the most of the buoyant housing market and consider selling their home this January.”
